Nappy Network Volunteers

Name: Laura G

Locality: Ness City

Why I chose cloth: Honestly? It was a lifestyle choice. I liked the way they looked, the collectability and the buzz from shopping for them! I got totally fed up of shelling out money on the same old paper/plastic disposables (which I don't hate btw, just don't get a thrill out of buying them)

Area of special interest: Two-parters (including wool), and navigating the internet shops and Facebook selling boards! I am mostly into higher end brands - Gen-Y, SBish etc. but love my Smartipants stash too.

Interesting fact: I plan to replace my nappy addiction with a Blythe doll obsession.

Name: Rose

Locality: Isle of Lewis

Why I chose cloth: I wanted to give them a go with my last baby after trying but giving up with my older two!

Area of special interest: We use mainly fitteds with wraps, especially gen-y wraps! Also being a 'young mum' I want to show others how easy, affordable and cute cloth nappies are!

Interesting fact: I’m training to be a breastfeeding peer supporter, I also run the Western Isles Sling Meet and have a big passion for raising awareness of postnatal depression.

Name: Kathryn

Locality: Mossbank, Shetland

Why I chose cloth: I love the tactile nature, to me cloth is very sensory - it is visually appealing (when it goes on, at least!) and gorgeous to handle. And yes, you will see me stroking balls of wool in yarn shops too..... And I am too lazy to keep emptying bins...

Area of special interest: I would like to say that I enjoy trying new brands, the ones that are not so mainstream or well known. Other people might say it's my ability to "talk fluff", often unprompted, for hours.

Interesting fact: I once was sick in a wpc's helmet, which went undiscovered until it was needed for an important parade the following day!.

Name: Pete

Locality: Cromarty, Black Isle

Why I chose cloth: I chose cloth nappies because we lived in the middle of nowhere with no access to shops, for environmental and money saving reasons and for the well being of our children.

Area of special interest: All the technical stuff at events and festivals

Interesting fact: My first job as a prop maker in theatre was to build a suitcase that transformed into a magicians table, makes changing nappies look easy!

Name: Helen

Locality: Caithness

Why I chose cloth: Thought of cloth due to huge landfill that really stunk near my parents house! Then found out they were cute and saved money too. Using the newborn hire kit from nappy network helped as so many different types to choose from and this allowed us to experiment. Also gives the wee one a softer place to land when landing on bum!

Area of special interest: Changes to be honest and because of Facebook selling boards you don't lose a lot of money through buying and selling. Mainly use tots bots, started with easyfits and bamboozle stretch at night but now use bamboozle stretch all the time. This was mainly due to me discovering Gen Y wraps which I love (thanks Laura G!).

Interesting fact: I have an unhealthy obsession with spreadsheets!
